National Sons Day was created by President Barack Obama in 2010 as a way to celebrate the special bond between fathers and their children. The idea came from his own experience with being raised by his dad. It became official on May 19th, which happens to be my son’s birthday.
The best way to celebrate National Sons Day is through meaningful conversations and activities with your kids. There are so many different ways to do this! According to Psychology Today, engaging in meaningful conversations with your child will increase closeness and trust. This builds their self-confidence and makes them feel safe around you, which is important because they need someone they can rely on when they’re older.
